Arizona Hunting Prices and Faqs

Here is some information before you choose your hunt. Book early!

Physical Difficulty Rating: Hunters can choose an Arizona hunt that's either super-easy or super-strenuous, or any level of difficulty in between. This concept applies to Rocky Mountain elk, Rocky Mountain mule deer, Sonoran mule deer and/or Coues whitetail deer. All hunts are custom-tailored to a hunter's physical ability and a hunter's expectation. Most hunters choose a semi-remote, four-wheel-drive access, tent-camp accommodation. But, cabin-based and hotel-based hunts are also available. Extreme backpack hunts are available for those hunters who wish to access super-remote locations that offer a wilderness hunting experience.

Elk:
Arizona trophy bull elk generally range in size between 300 inches and 440 inches and average about 340 inches. Unless otherwise instructed by a hunting client, I target bulls that are 320 inches and larger. All elk management units in Arizona hold extremely large bull elk and it's basically a matter of knowing where to look for them within whichever management unit. However, certain management units have a higher percentage of large bulls than other management units. If I am informed in advance, I can direct a hunter to apply in whichever units that currently offer reasonable/realistic chance of killing a large bull elk that will measure 330-370 inches or larger. Extreme backpack hunts are available.
Mule Deer:
Trophy Rocky Mountain (forest) mule deer bucks range in size between 150 inches and 250 inches and average about 170 inches. However, I tend to target bucks that are 160 inches or larger. There are several management units within Arizona that produce extremely large Rocky Mountain mule deer and most of those management units offer good chances to draw a mule deer permit. It's not entirely necessary to obtain a coveted Arizona Strip or Kaibab tag in order to kill an exceptional mule deer buck. But, I have guided and will guide a client if he or she happens to obtain a tag within those famous regions. Nevertheless, there are other worthy management units that contain truly large bucks, as well.

Trophy Sonoran (desert) mule deer bucks range in size between 140 inches and 210 inches and average about 150 inches. But, I like to target bucks that are 150 inches and larger. There are a plethora of management units within Arizona that harbor large and exceptionally large desert mule deer bucks. Chances to draw a tag are very good indeed and a hunter can usually expect to hunt the first or second year that he or she applies for a permit. For archery hunters, tags are OTC (over the counter) and the hunting is conducted during the rut, when exceptionally large bucks aren't quite as wary. Extreme backpack hunts are available.
Coues Whitetail Deer: Trophy Coues bucks range in size between 75 inches and 155 inches and average about 90 inches. But, I always target bucks that are 100 inches and larger. Chances to draw a rifle tag are excellent and in a lot of instances it's virtually guaranteed. The hunting is fantastic and a hunter can expect to see 20-30 trophy Coues bucks during a typical 9-day or 11-day hunt. For archery hunters, tags are OTC (over the counter) and the hunting is conducted during pre-rut, when bucks are wandering widely in search of females. Extreme backpack hunts are available.
